Mitchell Park is a park area in the middle of the Village of Greenport on the water’s edge. The Village of Greenport has acquired funding to develop a carousel building, harbor walk and amphitheatre which is currently under construction by our firm. A second phase will include an ice-rink and a YMCA. The Carousel Building itself is a complicated structure designed by SHOP Architects who were awarded the project through a national design competition. The Carousel Building is a circular structure consisting of (12) identical 2000 pound steel and glass bi-fold doors surrounding a wood and steel compression/tension structure with no interior columns. The Harbor walk decking and shade arbors are constructed using Brazilian Ipe Wood. The first phase of the project is slated for completion in the summer of 2001. ​
